RSS = Really Simple Syndication. OK, what does that mean?…
It means making your content available for others to use (either on their own website, or through special feedreader software)
Of course in reallity RSS works in two directions:
- You make your information available to others in an RSS feed
- you use RSS feeds from other sites as content on your site.
There are a few “ethical ” questions about the use of other site’s RSS feeds as content on your own site, and indeed there are sites that sell their information through RSS feeds you subscribe to. However, its generally accepted that if you off RSS, then your data will get used.
